Life can feel overwhelming at times. Patterns can be difficult to change, relationships can become strained, and emotional or behavioral concerns can interfere with daily life. Therapy offers a calm, supportive space to slow things down, talk openly, and gain perspective.
I work with adults, couples, and families who are feeling stuck, uncertain, or worn down by ongoing challenges. These may include depression, anxiety, chronic stress, relationship difficulties, or concerns related to alcohol use, substance misuse, or gambling.
My approach is steady and collaborative. I focus on understanding what’s beneath the surface and helping people make realistic, meaningful changes at a pace that feels right for them.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist with nearly four decades of experience helping adults and families navigate emotional, relationship, and behavioral challenges.
Many people reach out when they feel overwhelmed or unsure how to move forward. My goal is to provide a safe, respectful space where you can speak openly and feel understood.
I commonly work with:
I am well known in the local medical and behavioral health community for my work in Motivational Interviewing, a practical and non-judgmental approach that helps people clarify what they want to change and build confidence in their ability to do so. Our work is focused on realistic goals and steady, lasting progress.
Starting therapy can feel like a significant step, and it is normal to have questions or mixed feelings. From the first contact, my priority is to help you feel comfortable, respected, and supported.
We begin by talking about what brings you in and what you would like to be different in your life. I take time to understand your concerns, strengths, and past experiences with change. Therapy is collaborative and tailored to you, with an emphasis on clarity, compassion, and forward movement rather than pressure or quick fixes.
To help you decide whether working together feels like a good fit, I offer a complimentary brief telephone consultation.
Alongside my private practice, I have spent many years in senior clinical and leadership roles within hospital-based and community outpatient programs. In these settings, I provided direct patient care, supervised clinicians, and helped develop addiction and behavioral health services.
I previously served as Senior Director of Behavioral Health at Zucker Hillside Hospital within the Northwell Health system, where I oversaw comprehensive substance abuse services and participated in system-wide responses to the opioid crisis. I also served as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, teaching medical students, residents, and practicing clinicians.
I have contributed to peer-reviewed research, professional education, and national technical guidance related to addiction treatment, behavioral health services, and motivational interviewing.
Selected peer-reviewed publications include work published in Drug and Alcohol Dependence Reports, American Journal of Psychiatry, Journal of Addiction Medicine, Contemporary Clinical Trials, and Academic Medicine. I have also contributed book chapters and federal technical reports and presented at national professional conferences.
